Telling The Stories Of The Hood Canal

In 2021, I started working with Explore Hood Canal, which does the tourism for Mason County, Washington. Before that, through KMAS, I’d always been talking about and going to events but this new position helped me develop more of my videography storytelling style.

Turns out, it’s very similar to the radio in the sense that I enjoy hearing from local folks explaining what they do and sharing their love for the area. Mason County is one of the most diverse counties in Washington with the Hood Canal, the only saltwater fjord in the lower 48, where much of the world’s shellfish come from. It also has an entrance to the Olympic National Park with some of the most stunning hikes, lookouts and ways to explore the region.

Add to that places like Shelton, Hoodsport, Union, Belfair and Allyn with amazing food and destinations and it’s easy to see why people are coming out more and more to Explore Hood Canal.
